Rest. Rest. Rest. We all need it, yet we ignore it. Even Jesus tells us the importance of resting in God. If you didn’t get the idea, this week’s reading is Lesson 109 – I rest in God. Rev. Gayle and I spoke about this reading on the Tuesday show yesterday (May 27). Here is the link: http://www.spreaker.com/user/miraclesone/rest-in-god-5-27-14
In this lesson it is important for us to step back. If we wonder why we get swept away into the ego’s fearfulness when a situation occurs, it is because we have not allowed ourselves to be grounded in the truth. When we are grounded in the truth then the winds and storms can come but there we will be ever present in the eye of the hurricane. That is where God is found in the center of it all.
Our good friend Donna Marie Cary had a lovely song titled “God is in the Eye of the Hurricane”. Here is the song on Amazon for 99 cents. It’s worth it! Eye of the Hurricane . In this song she sings that the world is spinning faster, louder, and how hard it is to keep up, bullets flying, people crying, asking WHERE IS LOVE? But God is here in the center. No matter if there is panic and confusion and you feel you may be losing your mind, God is in the Eye of it all.
How do we find this? By resting in Him. When we rest in Him, if even for a holy instant, it will carry us past the storms that we ourselves seem to create. We always catastrophize what is occurring in our lives. It isn’t as hopeless and bleak as it seems. We have His Help.
So today rest, you owe it to yourself to step back and have a day of peace. You will rest undisturbed when you do. Then, you will be able to assist others because you took the time to put on the oxygen mask first, so to speak. You took care of you so no you can be a vessel for others. You can reply to those calls for love with love instead of the fear that gripped you. You can do this. He asks you to do so. Would Jesus lie to us?
You rest within the peace of God today, quiet and unafraid. Each brother comes to take his rest, and offer it to you. We rest together here, for thus our rest is made complete, and what we give today we have received already. Time is not the guardian of what we give today. We give to those unborn and those passed by, to every Thought of God, and to the Mind in which these Thoughts were born and where they rest. And we remind them of their resting place each time we tell ourselves, “I rest in God.”
