Chapter 5, IV. Teaching and Healing
“You cannot be hurt, and do not want to show your brother anything except your wholeness. Show him that he cannot hurt you and hold nothing against him, or you hold it against yourself. This is the meaning of “turning the other cheek.”
This passage stands out because of some thought of late of a past circumstance where someone had misjudged me gravely. Even thought I knew what the truth was about the situation that occurred, I still felt as a victim and felt that I was being punished when I was completely innocent.
The tricks the ego plays to the mind.
As much as the mind would want to stray from love and attack this person and defending myself and indicating how hurt I am by the words, Jesus speaks to me yet of love. This person truly cannot hurt me, destroy my character in any way. It is my own thoughts that cage me in the hurt cycle.
As I share only the loving thoughts, those are what is returned to me. Everything else falls away and is not needed, not even given a second glimpse. And so dear Jesus, thank you for assisting me ever so kindly and gently with the healing of my mind. I am willing to share only love with my brothers.
“I place the peace of God in your heart and in your hands, to hold and share. The heart is pure to hold it, and the hands are strong to give it. We cannot lose. My judgment is as strong as the wisdom of God, in Whose Heart and Hands we have our being. His quiet children are His blessed Sons. The Thoughts of God are with you.”
