If I feel alone and isolated, it is because I have missed my connection with God. I thought I could walk the world without Him only to find what a mistake that truly is. Anytime I feel in this manner, “sitting on the cushion” i.e. meditation, reasserts my communion with Him. Today, I was awake at 4 am. I entered our living room, at first hoping to fall asleep again in my recliner, instead I found myself reading today’s lesson and then meditating. Isn’t time spent with God a deep rest in and of itself? And I found it to be true. After 30 minutes or so, I felt well rested and connected and ready to move forward in the day. Sometimes it is not 30 minutes, sometimes it is merely 5-10 minutes. It is not about the length of time spent, but the quality and importantly the intention on the outset. That is what makes for a deep, rich connection with God.
